BY DENISE DORION
It's that time of year again!
The Radio Voice of Maine Township WMTH-88.5 FM comes to life for another broadcasting season to bring all the news, sports action, and music one will want to hear.
Mr. Daryl Schultz, station manager, has a bright outlook for this year's broadcasting season. "With the reconstruction that is in progress in the station, I feel we will have an even better sound quality than what we have had in the past. We also have a very good organizational nucleus for a very good year."
Executive board staff members this year are Steve Visteen '78, program director; Kevin Busch '78, news and music director; John Nebl '80 and Mark Halverson '80, assistant news directors; J. B. Beedy '80, chief engineer; Jill Bakker '79, tape and record librarian; Bob Baker '79, sports director; and Denise Dorion '79, traffic manager.
There is a variety of programs one would hear on WMTH. On-the‑hour newscasts, with all the latest news, sports, and weather; Current Comment, a half‑hour talk show, discussing the latest issues with the mayor of Des Plaines, or even such guests as
Terry Murphy from WLS‑TV and Bob Greene, Sun‑Times columnist. It also features a wide‑range of music shows, from Great Composers and Great Music, to Soft and Easy, the 88 Survey, and finishing with Sounds from the Underground. WMTH also broadcasts football, basketball, and baseball games, with all the play‑by‑play action preceded by pre‑game music shows. The news department will also be aided this year with the installment of a UPI teletype machine.
WMTH‑FM is an educational operation, with the daily programming divided between the four Maine Township schools, Maine West, Maine East, Maine South and Maine North, each school operation receiving its share of the daily programming.
WMTH staff members are very optimistic this year. Kevin Busch, news director, says, "This will be a good year for the news department with the addition of the UPI machine. It will keep the news stories fresh and up‑to‑date."
What goes on in R-201? Tune into WMTH 88.5 FM and hear the radio voice of Maine Township at its best.
