The varsity soccer team will face some of their toughest competition over the next two weeks. They will face Maine South, Maine East, Niles West, and Glenbrook South. Tonight they play Glenbrook North at 8 p.m. all of the above games are conference games.
The varsity kickers continued their lackluster performance by losing to Deerfield by a 5-0 score last Saturday at Deerfield. The team lacked continuity as Deerfield jumped to a 2-0 lead after the first quarter. Deerfield scored three more goals and coasted to victory.
On Friday, Sept. 30, the Warriors faced the Falcons of Forest View at home. The Warriors drew first blood on a goal by sophomore Joe Cavillier in the first quarter. Unfortunately Forest View scored twice and went ahead, 2-1. Cavillier saw that the Falcons did not win the game by scoring his second goal of the night. the rain-soaked game ended in a 2-2 tie.
The Wildkits of Evanston traveled to Maine West to face the Warriors on Tuesday, Sept. 27. Once again the Warriors fell behind and never gained enough momentum to overtake their opponents. The final score was Evanston 2, Maine West 1. The lone Warrior goal was scored by Jim Carlstrom.
In a game played at Maine West under the lights on Friday, Sept. 23, the New Trier West Cowboys dumped the Warriors by a 2-1 score. Scoring the lone West goal was Bob Reda.
Results of the junior varsity, sophomore, and freshman games were not available at press time but will be given in a later issue.
