'Circus, Circus' Comes To Maine
for Homecoming
"Circus, Circus" is the theme for this year's Homecoming. It began with float building on Saturday, Oct. 15, and will conclude with the dance, "Under the Big Top," on Saturday, Oct. 22, at 8 p.m. in the auditorium.

This year Maine West did things differently by crowning a Homecoming king in addition to the traditional queen. They were voted on this week by all four classes during homeroom, and the winners were announced at the Pep Rally last night. During the game festivities tonight they will be presented again.

This year's courts consists of seven senior girls and seven senior boys. The queen court consists of Ruby Agana, Jackie Duwe, Leanne Larocca, Cindy Lee, Man Muldowney, Ami Nyberg, and Lynn Tilton. The king court includes Rusty Carrell, Lee Jackson, Tom Frazier, Kurt Kunze, Larry McCarthy, Bob Wood, and Brian Stapp.

Yesterday, the parade lined up at 4:45 p.m. in the E‑wing parking lot and left at 6 p.m. The parade traveled from Howard to Lee and through downtown Des Plaines. Then it went to Graceland, Thacker, Wolf, and back to the Maine West stadium. The parade was longer this year due to the change in route,

At about 7:30 p.m. the parade reached the track and circled around the football field. This gave the spectators one last chance to view the floats, cars, and candidates before the judging began.
After the parade came in, the Pep Rally started. At the Pep Rally were many events. Besides the announcement of the king and queen, there was a tug‑of‑war between the four levels of classes and the faculty. There was also a Volkswagen race around the track and performances by the cheerleaders and the Pom Pon girls.

The floats were also judged at this time. Float building began or Saturday, Oct. 15, in D‑wing. The maximum budget allowance for float building should not have exceeded $100. The maximum height of the float is 11 feet with a maximum width of 8 feet. Floats were judged on the basis of appropriateness to slogan, ingenuity in carrying out the slogan, originality, durability, and general appearance.

Tonight the Warriors will face the Glenbrook South Titans with sophomores beginning at 6 p.m. and the varsity team at 8 p.m. Varsity Head Coach Dan Mortier said that he thinks tonight's game will be a good and exciting game.

During halftime the parade will once again circle the track. The king and queen will be presented to the spectators, also.

Bill Hanselman, vice‑president of the Student Council, commented, "Student Council is trying to make this the best Homecoming ever. We have a lot of new ideas, and we hope the kids like them."
