PTC To Sponsor Annual Open House
The Parent Teacher Council will sponsor the annual fall Open House. It will be held on two nights, Thursday, Oct. 27, and Tuesday, Nov. 1.

Parents whose last names begin with A‑L are asked to come on the first night, and those with last names beginning with M‑Z should attend on the second of the two nights. Parents who are unable to come on their specified night are more than welcome to attend on the other designated night.

Teachers will be in their classrooms at 7 p.m. and remain there until approximately 10 p.m. Parents are asked to limit their visit to two or three minutes with a teacher so that all the teachers will be able to meet all the parents. After the visitation part of the evening, parents are invited to the cafeteria for refreshments.
In the past most parents have found that attending an Open House at Maine West has been very profitable and that it is a good chance to learn about how the school and certain classes are run. Mr. John Graef, assistant principal, commented, "Open House is intended to promote better communications between the parents and the teachers. At an Open House parents and teachers are able to associate names with actual personalities." Mr. Graef expects more than 1,000 people each night and hopes that at least one parent per student can attend.

The U and U Society (ushers and usherettes) will be in the halls to give directions to parents and to pass out room listings of each teacher. This has been a custom of the U and U Society.

Because of the preparation that teachers must put into an Open House the school day will be shortened on these two days. The students will be dismissed at 2:40 p.m. Seventh, eighth, and ninth periods will be equally shortened.
