Season Disappointing For Soccer Team
The varsity soccer team ended a disappointing season with a loss to Glenbrook South, 3-0. Other losses were to Maine East, 4-0 and Niles West, 4-1. Mike Matkovic scored the goal against Niles West.
The varsity ended up with a 112-2 record this season. High scorer for the varsity this year was Jim Carlstrom with four goals.
The sophomores did better this year; they ended up with a 5-6-4 record. In their last games they tied Glenbrook South, 1-1, Maine East, 1-1 and Niles West, 0-0.
High scorer for the sophomores was Tim Fillipp with six goals.
The freshmen ended up with a record of 5-5-3. Wins came against Glenbrook South, 2-1; Maine East, 1-0; and they lost to Niles West 2-0.
High scorer this year for the freshmen was Manny Ramillo, with four goals.
The varsity and sophomore teams also played Oak Park in a make-up game. The varsity lost, 5-1. The sophomores also lost, 2-0.
The young varsity soccer team is looking forward to a better year next year. Awards for the teams were given on Tuesday, Nov. 15.
