Holiday Season Approaches Again
Another year has gone by, and once again it is Christmastime. Suddenly we become electrified into assuming a generous and benevolent attitude. As the saying goes, "Tis the season to be jolly."
This season tends to bring out an overall spirit of good will which is usually hidden in a closet behind greed, selfishness, and hatred. To some of us Christmas is a show, an escape, or merely a two‑week holiday. However, what we have done with Christmas has no effect upon the real significance of Christmas. Nor should it be a season of mourning or unhappiness. On the contrary, everyone should participate in the "joy" of Christmas.
Even though Christmas has become commercialized over the years, a feeling of good will still exists among many. Many people express their love or friendship through the exchanging of gifts. It is not important how much the gift costs but the meaning behind it. An overall atmosphere of brotherhood has appeared in the halls of Maine West as the holiday season approaches. Wouldn't it be a nice present for everyone for this brotherhood among all to exist through the new year?
Once again the staff of the Westerner wishes everyone an enjoyable holiday season. We'll see you Jan. 3.
