Elks Sponsor Leadership Contest
The Elks National Foundation is sponsoring the "Most Valuable Student" Scholarship/ Leadership Offer. Only students of the graduating class may enter this national competition. All scholarships that will be awarded are in the form of certificates of award conditioned upon the enrollment of the student in an undergraduate course in an accredited college or university.

The total of $808,800 in scholarship / leadership awards will be given this year. Students of outstanding merit, who show appreciation of the value of an education and who are willing to struggle to achieve success, have a good chance to win the awards.
Generally any student can enter; but if he has a scholarship rating of 90 per cent or better, a relative standing in the upper five per cent of his class, and has exhibited leadership abilities, he gets more consideration.

To get an application see Mr. James Killam, career counselor, in the career resource center. The application requests that information concerning family data and school status be filled out. It also includes details on making a student portfolio which includes letters, endorsements, and certificates. Mr. Killam emphasizes that neatness is an important qualification in filling out this application.
