Before Christmas the varsity gymnastics team lost to Wheeling by the score of 140-72. Against North Chicago and Lake Park, the Warriors won their first meet by the scores of 77.21 for Maine West, 66.8 for North Chicago, and 38.2 for Lake Park. Greg Bosco was high scorer in that meet for the Warriors.
The varsity holds a 2-5 overall record and a 0-2 conference record; but Coach Sid Drain said, "It's a young team, and I'm looking forward to next year." He also said, "At this time Greg Bosco is our most consistent performer."
The sophomore team is showing promise losing only one meet this season. Adding two more wins to their season, the sophomores beat Lake Park and North Chicago. In that meet Greg Coburn was high scorer for the sophomores. The sophomores hold a 6-1 record at this time.
The freshman team is also showing promise; they haven't lost a meet this season.
The teams have five more meets this year starting tonight against Niles West at Maine West. After that, the teams play Maine East at East, Glenbrook South at South, Maine South at home and Maine North at home. All home meets are held in Awing gym and start about 6:30 p.m.
