Musical Lists Cast Members
This year's annual musical to be presented by the Maine West Music Department is The Music Man. It will be performed on Mar. 15-18 in the auditorium.

The story of The Music Man takes place in about 1915 in a little town in Iowa. It is about a traveling salesman, Professor Harold Hill, who sells instruments and band uniforms but doesn't teach music. Only Marian the librarian would know this, so he tries to prevent her from learning the truth.

The double cast roles include Kevin Marquette '78 and Bill Atherton '78 as Professor Harold Hill; Kris King '80 and Karon Bullmer '78 as Marian Paroo, the librarian; Ann Birchfield '78 and Maureen O'Malley '80 as Mrs. Paroo, Marion's mother; Fran Kosac '78 and Ann Zemiatis '78 as Mrs. Eulailie Shinn; Dick Lindberg '78 as Mayor Shinn; and Rick Kempiak '78 as Marcellus.

There will also be six children performing in the show. Two boys were double cast to play Winthrop, Marian's brother, and four children to play townspeople. The children range in grades from 2‑6.
Ms. Carla Oleck, the show's stage director, said, "I think it's going to be a spectacular show with the fabulous costumes of the time. The new stage facilities will allow us to have more elaborate sets." Mr. Donald Lord will be the focal director, and Mr. Robert Kuite will be the music director and producer.

There is also a dance chorus which includes Corinna Karpiel '78, Dawn Anderson '78, Vicki Kadlec '78, Ellen Tolstad '79, Donna Vilkaitis '79, and Barb Warner '80. There were also two alternates picked: Rubi Agana '78 and Debbie Preiss '80. The student dance choreographer is Ellen Tolstad.

It's a large cast, about 50 people, plus the bands that will be on stage at the end for "76 Trombones."
