Office Occupations Club
Participates in Convention
The Office Occupations Club participated in a convention of office skills recently. The convention was held at Triton College and 16 other schools including Ridgewood, Zion‑Benton, North Chicago, and Antioch participated.

Students who placed first in their areas of office practice were Laura Sievers '78 in data processing-keypunch; Gina Catalano '78 in receptionist; Linda Wallace '78 in records management; Alicia Roeder '78 in extemporaneous verbal communications; and Joanna Gutowski '78 placing first in Typing I, Steno II, and Job Interview II. Other winners were Bob Baumhart '78, Jane Wagner '78, Tandy Thomas '78, Terri Heraty '78, Mary Hincker '78, Carola Weis '78, Carrie Bouchee '78, and Sharon Walsh '78.

Also participating in the two‑day competition were Wendy Dema '78, Darlene Gorgollone '78, Cheryl Thompson '78, Jo Ann Mathis '78, Jean Lorenz '78, Maria Montes '78, Bonnie McGee '78, Terri Moberg '78, and Ronnie Prosser '78.
Office Occupations is one of the cooperative education courses in which the student attends school for part of the day and then goes to work at a business related job in the afternoon. Office occupations offers general office,, secretarial, accounting, and various other office work.

Mr. William Breitzke, adviser, had this to say about Office Occupations Club, "Office Occupations is a way to get a head start in life. It gives the student the experience of the working world and more important the experience of working with people."

Sharon Walsh '78, one of the members of the Office Occupations Club, said that she felt the basics were learned in class, but "you don't really apply them until you get into a real office situation."
