M-Club, West Women Offer
Opportunities for Athletes
BY GREG HERDZINA

M‑Club and West Women are two clubs in Maine West that are constantly on the move. What are these two clubs? Any boy or girl who receives a letter in a varsity sport is invited to join either M‑Club or West Women.

On Tuesday, Feb. 14, the members of M‑Club played their annual basketball game against the faculty of Maine West. The lead constantly changed hands; but in the end, the M‑Club won 54 to 51. Players for this year's faculty team included Mr. Phillip Kardasz, Coach Donald Olson, Coach Ronald Brown, Mr. Robert Goerne, Mr. Leslie Jannusch, and Coach Scott Chovanec.

The M‑Club team consisted of the following seniors: Bill Garesche, Kent Wantroba, Wally Pasternak, Bob Aslan, Marty Oehlerking, and Jeff Deckrow. The money raised by this year's game will be used for M‑Club purchases the following year.

West Women is a club that is growing bigger and better each year. With the addition of more teams for girls' athletics in high school the popularity of this club is increasing. This year's president is Maureen Moeller.
This year's W.W. Club is going on a ski trip to Alpine Mountain. Any girl who is interested in joining and who has been on a varsity or junior varsity team should contact Maureen Moeller or go to the auditorium at 7:45 a.m. on Fridays.

The M-Club meets on Thursdays and Fridays in the morning at 7:45 in the spectator gym or G-103. M-Club's activities include participating in selling food in the concession stands at the football, basketball, and other athletic events at Maine West home games.

This year's president, Bob Aslan, was pleased with the turnout Tuesday night and is pleased with the turnout of members this year.

The sponsors for this year's clubs are Mr. Dick Carlini for the M‑Club and Ms. Karen Kenyon for W.W. Club.
