Girl Swimmers Improve Records
So far this year the girls' team has had 10 meets. Their record is 6-4. They defeated Maine East, Niles East, Niles West, Niles North, Waukegan East, and Highland Park. They lost to Glenbrook North, Glenbrook South, Maine South, and Prospect.

Last Saturday they placed fourth in a conference meet. This meet was held at Maine East and involved seven different schools.

There are three girls who may make it to the state meet which will be held on Feb. 25 and 26, at New Trier West. The are Dawn Ericksen, Maureen Moeller, and Mary Kay Gerhardt. The two captains of the varsity team are Eileen Kramer and Mary Kay Gerhardt.
This Saturday is their first district meet.

The swim team has been working hard all year; they started practicing back in September 1977 every morning from 6:30 to 7:30 and then after school from 3:30 to 5:30.

The girls' swim team coaches are Ms. Peggy Mitchell and Mr. John Carle. Coach Mitchell stated, "Our record has improved since last year. The team has broken nine out of 11 school records this year. The amount of individual improvement was phenomenal for everyone on the team."
