State Commission Announces
'78-'79 Illinois State Scholars
The Illinois State Scholarship Commission (ISSC) has announced the 1978-79 Illinois State Scholars. Nearly 30,000 Illinois students applied for this honor from which approximately 12,000 were chosen.

The winners applied last year when they took the ACT. They qualified on the basis of their ACT scores and high school achievements. Nearly all of the state colleges have state scholars enrolled. In the past these scholars have earned B grades, on the average, during their college freshman year.

The following 58 seniors were named Illinois State Scholars and received a Certificate of Merit in recognition of their achievement. They are Sharon Ball, Robin Beck, Cheryl Bergman, Wayne Beth, Ann Birchfield, Cathy Bock, Tammy Burk, Ellen Christ, Morris Danielson, Richard Dsida, David Fischer, Don Glass, Mary Gradl, Arvid Grinbergs, and Pete Hajas.
Others include Dean Hammer, Steve Hayden, Dave Henderson, James Herzau, Joseph Hoch, Bruce Hostetler, Kathy Huffaker, Randy Jamieson, Carol Johnson, Joseph Jones, Vickie Kadlec, James Kennelly, James Kenyon, Lori Kimball, Don Knowles, Julie Koren, Elissa Kron, Kathy Lorz, Joann Mathis, Peri Meissner, and Cindy Mielke.

Concluding the list are Ann Mollenkamp, Diana Mraz, Maureen Mukai, Dan Nelson, Jim Niemczyk, Michael O'Connor, Andy Packard, Ron Pawelko, Jean Pugh, Denise Pytlik, Teresa Rawn, Alicia Roeder, Carol Scheffner, Shari Schlachter, David Sieben, Susan Sullivan, Sue Sykora, Amy Tuttle, Simone Vrastiak, Jeff Wagner, Eileen Wall, and Ann Zemaitis
