Mothers' Club Offers
Annual Scholarships
The Maine West Mother's Club is offering its annual scholarships which are available to all seniors. The scholarships are offered on an application basis.
The Maine West Mother's Club is an organization of mothers of Maine West students who are concerned in furthering the students' education and helping them get into college.
There is no special qualification other than the candidate must be a senior and have proof of enrollment to a college by Aug. 15 to be able to receive this scholarship. Scholarship applications can be picked up from Mr. James Killam in the personnel office. The application asks for a letter explaining why you want to go to college, what career objectives you have, and what field of study you would like to get in to.
The scholarship awards are amounts of between $200 and $500.This money was raised by the Mother's Club through membership dues, card tournaments, and their fashion show. The awards will be decided upon by a committee on the basis of financial need and scholastic ability. A committee composed of both board members and non‑members will choose the winner by their applications. These awards will then be given during the Senior Honors Assembly in June.
The completed applications must be returned to Mr. Killam by Apr. 28. Any questions concerning the scholarships that cannot be answered by Mr. Killam can be answered by calling the chairman of the Maine West Mother's Club, Mrs. Warren McCune, at 299‑3734.
