Blizzards, Days Off, the Flu-
Wasn't This Winter Fantastic?
BY JERRY WOLOWICZ
For some, the coming of spring will bring a great amount of joy. For others, though, it just means an end to a fun winter.
Let's review everything this winter, which isn't over yet, has already brought us. It has dumped a record amount of snow on us, given many students numerous days off with various types of the flu, and it has also aided Florida in approaching its all‑time record for the most tourists. Although Chicago has had its worst winter ever, many other areas in the nation have been hit much harder.
The East Coast, mainly Boston and Buffalo, is still digging out from what was one of the worst blizzards in the history of the United States.
The sun has also been nonexistent in the state of California for the past few months. However, it's rain that's victimizing the West Coast.
Those people who really hate this winter have a point but should also look at the future of those who would be harmed if there weren't winters like this one. For example, what would happen to all the people who work at skiing resorts or work on plowing the streets or many other jobs that are created because of this kind of weather. So when you are about to call this the worst winter ever, think about all the people who think it's the best.
Besides, why complain about something that can't be controlled? John Coleman, Jim Tillman, and Harry Volkman have all predicted that the winter will end very soon anyway. Then again, who really listens to those guys? A much more reliable source, the groundhog, you winter lovers will be happy to know, believes in at least six more weeks of hard winter.
