Girl Cagers Work Hard
The Maine West girls' varsity basketball team has faced some tough competition in past games including Niles West. The girls' team had a tough time against Niles West losing by a score of 77‑23.

The Warrior players were in trouble from the beginning and were never really in the game. Glenbrook North just got by West in a close fought battle, 47-44. Debbie Mienke had 14 points, but it was not enough. In the end Maine West was on the short end.

Once again the girl Warriors scored 44 points, and once again it was not enough as Waukegan East downed Maine West by a score of 59-44. Robin Stocco led the team with 16 points while Debby Mienke dropped 14 points. Consistent play this year by Debbie has helped the girls, but with her return next year, the year should be one to look forward to.
On the JV level, the girls' basketball team lost to Niles West by a score of 56-25. Nancy Monahan and Kim Stryker each had six points with Sue Zuccarini grabbing eight rebounds. Glenbrook North handed the Warriors a 36-6 defeat on Feb. 18, dropping their record to 0-10. Debbie Molinaro had nine points, which was half of the team's points, as Waukegan East defeated the team by a score of 45-18. This loss put the girls' season overall record at 0-11. The girls are looking forward to a better season next year with the addition of some fine upcoming freshmen and sophomores.
