VOL. XIX, NO. 9
Students To Dance In Marathon
If you're interested in entering a dance marathon, President's Council and Student Council are sponsoring a marathon to be held on Saturday, Apr. 15. It will be an eight‑hour marathon held from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. in the cafeteria.
The profits from the dance will go to the Illinois Association of Retarded Citizens. Tickets will be on sale starting Apr. 4. The cost will be $1 per person for sponsored dancers and $2 per person for those who just want to dance and watch. Anyone who wishes to participate in the marathon must register between Apr. 4 and Apr. 13.
The committees that have been chosen for the marathon are publicity, Student Council; refreshments, Leader Board; dance organization, Pep Club; entertainment, WMTH and Student Council; and finances, Senior Class.
Students must have ID's to be admitted. No junior high students will be admitted unless they are a guest of a high school student.
Marathon dancers will get a five-minute break every hour and a 20‑minute dinner break half way through the marathon. McDonald's and Yankee Doodle will donate food. Other refreshments will be pretzels, made by the German Club; popcorn, pop, and pastries.
It will be a casual dance. The President and Student Councils hope to have bands and a disc jockey to spin records. There will be two dance contests held and prizes given. There will also be dance lessons and door prizes. Teachers and students from the other Maine schools are also invited. This dance marathon is a combined effort of the Maine West clubs.
