Badminton Now Leads Conference
This year's girls' varsity badminton team has successfully remained unbeaten. Their record so far this year is 4‑0.
In the New Trier Invitational, Sue Lindeman and Linda Bergles came in third in the A division. Denise Jenderzak and Mickey Wainscott won the A consolation. Hilda Maschman and Yoliztma Garrido came in third in the C consolation.
In singles Leanne Larocca took third in the A consolation. Karalyn Hatz won the C division, and Meg Gravesmill placed third.
The varsity team was able to defeat Glenbrook, 5-2.
The JV also won against Glenbrook North by the score of 4-3. Glenbrook South was another team that has been defeated by the badminton team by the score of 6-1. The JV weren't able to beat Glenbrook South and lost to them in a close match, 3-4. In another easy match, Maine West was able to beat Maine North, 5-2. But the JV lost another close match 3-4.
At this point of the season, the girls' varsity badminton team is tied for first place in the conference. On Mar. 16 the varsity team will play against Maine South, a conference contender. This match will take place at Maine West.
Coach Royleen Tipton says, "The team is doing well so far this year and will be in contention throughout the season."
