| Maine West's second year has begun, and with it, the school's second principal has taken office. Herman L. Rider, former wing principal and chairman of the science department, has been appointed principal with the beginning of the 1960-61 school-year. His predecessor, Ralph Frost, is now acting as assistant superintendent of both Maine East and West. This year, differing from last, there will not be any wing principals. The three wing principals of last year have advanced to higher offices. Robert Wells is now the assistant principal. Oliver W. Brown is serving as an administrative assistant to Superintendent Wiltse and Assistant Superintendent Frost. |
New department chairmen are Norman Ladd, mathematics, and Loren Miller, science. Alfred Cochrane is the newly appointed career counselor. His position was created to help seniors with college and vocational problems. Eventually he will be working with students other than seniors. Director of Testing and Research is George Giles Jr. His position also new this year, was created to test incoming students and to help other stu-dents decide problems by testing. Gerald Concidine is the director of the Work Experience Program. Student Council advisor, Joyce Buck, will be assisted this year by William Barringer and Larew Collister. Mr. Barringer will direct the honor study hall and Mr. Collister will direct Maine West's monitor system. |
