Westerner, Legend Staffs Attend Press Conference
Eight Maine West students recently attended the fortieth annual Illinois State High School Press Association convention at Urbana. Andy Adolfson, Pat Bolden, Diana Buthman, and Art Chick of the WESTERNER, and Sue Frasier, Karen Krull. Barb Lehr, and Carol Peterson of the LEGEND attended the convention last Friday and Saturday. Mr. Gerald Boyer and Mr. George Walker accompanied the school's delegation.

Over 1,000 delegates attended the two-day meeting, the first to be held in September since 1948. The convention did not interrupt any classes held at the University of Illinois as in past years since the fall term had not yet begun.
 Activities included in the convention were lectures by professional journalists and college professors, election of state officers, and roundtable discussions. A funfest was held Friday night which was attended by members of high schools throughout the state.

The WESTERNER staff made the trip in the new school station wagon. The car is available to all school organizations approved by the administration. All requests involving the transportation of students will take precedence over requests involving only faculty members or staff members.
