Band Takes First Honors At State Fair |
||||||||||
| For the ninth consecutive year, the Maine West high school band has upheld the tradition of winning Maine bands by copping first place honors in the Class AA band competition held at the Illinois State Fair in August. "New uniforms, now being made, will be delivered in time for Homecoming," informed Mr. Robert Kuite, chairman of the music department and band director. The Music boosters and Board of Education are sharing the cost of outfitting this award winning group. |
Sixty-four of the 80 members of the band marched at Maine West's first football game last Friday. A more recent appearance was at the out-of-doors flag dedication assembly, on Wednesday. Excelling in music, appearance, audience interest, and discipline, the West musicians participated in several suburban celebrations this summer. The Des Plaines Centi-Quad-O-Rama and Mt. Prospect fourth of July parades featured the band. A superior rating was also won at La Grange's annual Pet parade. The band again received fine appraisal at the Riverview park Mardi Gras tournament of music. |
