WEST'SPORTS

West's gridiron team will journey to Glenbrook tonight to face the Interim Association's conference football champions. The Spartans have held the championship for several years now. . . This is the Warrior's first varsity level Interim football game, and may well be an indication of how the West players will do.

In a preliminary contest last weekend, Glenbrook's 11 was surprised by the Huskies of Highland Park, 25-7, so the Spartans may well be tougher for their initial loss. Prospect, another Interim contestant won its opener, 41-6, over St. Procopius of the Suburban Catholic league, and may well field a rough team. Other Interim teams in action included Willowbrook losing, 19-14, to York, Wheaton losing to Glenbard, 25-12, and the East Leyden Eagles upsetting the West Suburban conference's Arlington Cardinals, 12-6. . . Could be that West's new found point-after-touchdown mastery (Charley Badalamenti) might make a difference in some games.
Junior varsity football went to a 7-7 tie Friday night in the prelim game against East Ley-den. Bill Robbins scored the TD and went over for the extra point.

On the sophomore level, West's gridders dropped their first game of the season, 13-6, Saturday at Morton. Claire of Maine West made the only first half touchdown, although Morton came back with two in the second half to clinch the game. In a crowd of over 400 spectators, the only Warrior rooters present were a handful of parents . . .

West's soph thinclads were overpowered by Glenhard East, 16-39, on the Warrior's home course last Friday. The number one finisher was Kopp of the 'Bards, with an 11:38 timing. Warriors in the top ten included: Jim Witkay, fifth; Wayne Buskin, seventh; Dennis Sellke, eighth; Phil Hway, ninth; and Bob McDermott, tenth,
