FN Club Takes Field Trip; Language Clubs Plan Party

Nurses Club

Twenty-five members of the Future Nurses club took a trip early today to St. Luke's Presbyterian school of nursing where they spent the morning observing classroom procedure. After a brief stop for lunch in St. Luke's cafeteria they continued their tour to the University of Illinois college of nursing.

"The purpose of the trip is to explore the types of educational programs available for preparation in the field of nursing," related Mrs. Frances Ringl, Maine West nurse and chaperon for the field trip.

A recent contribution to the Des Plaines Sending Closet was made by the club and will be used towards the purchase of more equipment which is loaned to needy people of the community.

The Future Nurses club is under the guidance of Mrs. Lorain Kalbfell, Mrs. Frances Ringl and Gerry Miller '61, president; Betty Coffman '62, vice president; Diane Cudek '62, corresponding secretary; Sue Lane '63, recording secretary; and Lila Kruse '61, treasurer.

FTA

Mr. Alfred Cochrane, career counselor, has been asked to speak to members of the Future Teachers of America at the March 15 meeting. He will tell the club about available scholarships.

Members have been informed that the order for pins has been delayed. According to Dave MacDonald '62, pin committee chairman, the certificate exempting the FTA from state tax has not been received. When it is granted the pins will be ordered.
Language Clubs

March 16 is a very important date to the members of the Maine West language clubs. This is the date on which Doctor Frederick Jung will come to give an illustrated speech on Inter-ling law.

Inter-ling law is a language now being used by scientists internationally as a means of communication.

Doctor Jung, former physiology professor at Northwestern university, has spoken in many major cities throughout Europe and the United States. He is also associate editor of the American Medical Association Journal.

Representatives from the language clubs will meet before Dr. Jung's arrival to plan this important joint meeting.

Radio Club

Through participation in the Radio club, Larry Bernett '62, has received his novice license. An applicant must be able to receive five words per minute. Later he must take another test for a higher classification to make a minimum speed of 13 words per minute.

Officers of the Radio club are John Collister, Larry Bernett, and Russel Lindboe, all from the class of '62. They are president, vice president, and secretary-treasurer, respectively. Mr. Dale Marshall, math department; and Mr. Stephen Cross, science instructor, are the faculty advisors.
