West, Elgin Participate
In Exchange

Kathie Benson '64, Carol Ann Barrett '63, Mimi Foss '62, John Hanck and Ann Kulik '61, Marilyn Manny '62, Jim Me Kee '63, Gretchen Rider and Gail Schellin '62, Tom Wennstrom '64, John White '62, and Dan Wiberg '61, participated in the first inter-school exchange with Elgin High school on February 27. Elgin will visit Maine West on March 21.

Accompanied by Miss Joyce Buck, Student Council sponsor, the council representatives were congenially welcomed at Elgin about 8:30 Monday morning. Student guides acquainted the Warriors with the Maroon Racoons and the school building, erected in 1869.

History, English, language, science, math, and gym classes were attended. Elgin's radio station, WEPS, which broadcasts the entire day, was viewed. The Student Council, consisting of approximately 80 members, meets once a week.

Periods are 55 minutes long seven throughout the day.

Inter-school exchanges are a new idea in an effort to better relations with neighboring schools.
