VOL. II, NO. 11
MARCH 24, 1961
Joe Figard, Student Council representative for two years, member of both the cross country and tennis teams, and maintainer of a "B" average, has a real desire to serve you as your Student Council president. Besides serving on Student Council and participating in sports, Joe has attended Junior class council meetings and enjoyed working on its projects. Two terms as vice-president of the Thacker Jr. High Student Council, one year as assistant Traffic Court judge, and one week as a Des Flames junior official have given him leadership experience. Receiving a brotherhood citation and attending the Wheaton High hospitality night have given him opportunities to meet and work with students from neighboring schools as well as Maine West.

Joe realizes that no council president can determine himself the effectiveness of a Student Council since a good council, as well as a good school, requires the interest and support of an entire student body. He states, however, "If elected, I will work to the best of my ability to make Maine West and its council what the students want it to be."
