Historical Society Test To Determine Initiates

This year's American history contest, which is given by the Historical Society, will be held after school on April 18. All students who have maintained a "B" average or better in U.S. History throughout the year are eligible to compete, Mrs. Alice Aegerter, sponsor of the Society, has announced.

The 35 highest scorers in the contest, which is given in two parts, will become members of the Historical Society, Maine West's honorary social science organization. The top five of these will then take part in an essay test on May 2. This test will determine the "Best American History Scholar."

New members will be initiated and winners awarded certificates at the initiation ceremony on May 16.
