Honor Society Accepts 106
"The official initiation for the new members of National Honor society will be held on April 21 at 8 p.m. in the auditorium," announced Miss Anne Lauterbach, sponsor. "The parents of the initiates will be honored guests at the initiation. A guest speaker is being selected to speak at the meeting."

Many students are unaware of the requirements for being accepted into the society. Seniors must be in the upper quarter of their class and have attended Maine West for at least their seventh and eighth semesters. These students are judged outstanding in leadership, service and character.

Juniors must be in the upper five per cent of their class. They are allowed to have no more than six B's on their report cards, the remaining grades being A's.

New members of the society were officially welcomed to membership at a tea given for them after school in the cafeteria on Wednesday, March 8. On hand to welcome them was Bill Graebner, 61, president. Other officers of the society are Chuck Weber, 61, vice-president; Lynn Buffo, 61, secretary; and Jan Modesitt, 61, treasurer.
