VOL. II, NO. 11
MARCH 24, 1961
"I want to put the "student" back into Student Council," states Bruce Johns, candidate for Student Council president. "Through better representation, more student opinion can be expressed, thus bringing about a friendlier atmosphere and more school unity." Bruce's platform consists of the following three points: (1) increase student opinion by making Student Council more democratic through better homeroom representation, (2) create higher standards by increasing pride and spirit, and (3) create better unity between different school organizations.

Bruce has shown his leadership abilities through a variety of activities. Among these are Student Council executive board, Student Council and M club. He also served as Junior class president. He has been on the swimming team for three years and has still maintained a "B" average. Bruce attended last year's Illinois Association of Student Councils' convention, was a delegate to the Leader. ship conference at Maine East and was recently awarded a Brotherhood citation.
