Name MVP's At Banquet

Honoring basketball, swimming, gymnastics, and wrestling, the 1961 Mid-Winter sports banquet was held Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in the West cafeteria and auditorium.

Gaston Freeman, head coach of the basketball team, saw his Most Valuable player, Mike Rowlee '61, and captain, Bruce Shriver '61, honored.

Swimming star Ken Fadden '61, was honored as Coach Harold Baer's Most Valuable merman, and Bob Olson '61, was voted to the captaincy by his teammates.

Joe Menger '61, captain, and Bill Downing '62, Most Valuable, got the gymnastics awards for Coach Sidney Drain's team.
Coach Richard Carlini's Most Valuable grappler was Bob Jonas '62, and George Lanegraff '61, was the captain.

The tank squad had the most letters presented with 18, and the grapplers followed with 12. The basketballers got 11 letters, and the gymnasts received eight.

Jayvee basketball letters went to nine individuals.

Other captaincies and MV awards went to Rich Gilmore and Rich Battles for f-s wrestling, Don Kerr and John Gunderson for f-s swimming, Rogers Halvorsen with both for gymnastics, and Rick DeKreek and Bill Dautel for soph basketball. Frosh bucket awards went to John Gabbert and Dave Aegerter.
