| "Winning the high arid low hurdle events in the Evanston Indoor relays was the greatest thrill I've ever experienced while out for track," commented Dennis Richard Tiede Luzinsi, Maine West's all-state hurdler and this week's Warrior of the West. Other unforgetable occasions in Denny's career as a trackster were when West won the Interim Conference meet last May and the narrow triumph over Oak Park, Proviso East, and Dunbar in a four-way meet just five weeks ago. Denny, who was 18 just four days ago, has blonde hair, dishwater blue eyes, and wears glasses. All 153 lbs. and 6' of him are currently chasing after one pretty girl from Prospect (L.S. by initials). Following graduation, Denny (nicknamed pin-head and stretch by his teammates) plans on attending Northern Illinois university to major in business |
administration. When asked why he chose Northern, Denny replied, "It has a fine educational system and a weak track team." "Stretch" remarked this about the future of the Warriors' track team this year, "We should win the conference meet again this season and place very high in the state meet at Champaign, May 20 and 21. The main thing we must look out for is over-confidence. A big weakness of ours is depth. We could use several boys to back up our number one competitors in many events." Denny is currently the number two scorer on the track squad (Art Steele is first) with 94 points in nine meets. He has won 16 races, while losing just two. A truly fine record! |
