Induction for Honor Society Tonight |
||||||||||
| This evening 115 Honor Society initiates will be pledged to membership by Bill Graebner '61, president of the Maine West chapter of National Honor society. The induction ceremony will commence at 8 p.m. in the auditorium. Those invited to join the society include 25 juniors and 90 seniors. The inductees whose names were not included in the last publication are Kenneth Cornelius, Janet Edwards, Gail Kudla, Marilyn Manny, Sandy Mast, Robert Petkus, Gary Schlieckert, Barb Selman, and John Williams, all members of the class of 1962. The parents and friends of the initiates will be honored guests. The participants in the program will be the second year members of the society who were elected as juniors last spring. They are Sue Anderson, Lynn Buffo, Ellen Cameron, Jim Edwards, Bill Graebner, Dave Hopkins, Tanya Hosteter, Jan Modesitt, Char Thompson, and Chuck Weber. |
Members will enter to the processional, "March of the Peers." Dave Hopkins will speak on character; Sue Anderson, service; Jan Modesitt, leadership; and Chuck Weber, scholarship, reviewing the requests for membership. The new members will be presented by Mr. Herman Rider, principal, and the society's secretary and treasurer will award the pins. Mr. Robert Frost, assistant superintendent of Maine Township, will address the guests and members on the "Challenge Ahead." To be accepted into the society, juniors must be in the top five per cent of their class and must not have had any grades lower than B. Seniors must be in top 25 per cent of their class; not more than 15 per cent of this number are elected. Juniors and seniors considered must have taken no less than four full-credit courses each semester. These students are then judged by the categories: character, service students who have attended Maine West less than three semesters are not eligible for membership. |
