Three Voice Opinions

Dear Editors:
Upon reading the March 24 edition of the Westerner, I made the following observations: The secretarial candidates pictures and articles were written up on the first page along with a Student Council headline. On the third page of the paper, the presidential candidates were pictured without even a small headline to identify their articles. There were many other pictures, about the same size, scattered throughout the paper so even the presidential pictures were hard to identify.

Being an important issue of the Westerner, I feel that both the secretarial and presidential candidates should be given equal space and position in the paper. Why should you make your readers hunt for probably the most important article of the year? .

Student of Maine West, Dan Wiberg
Dear Editor:
It was disgraceful to see how many people turned out during Election Week!

I came to school early al-most everyday and hardly any students were here.

As I walked down the hail I heard a lot of students talking about Election Week not being like it used to, but I didn't see them doing anything about it. What kind of students are we turning out? They have lots of gripes but don't bother to try to improve these conditions. .

An Appalled Senior

Dear Editor:
Running around in ridiculous costumes and waving posters and tags does not mean a lack of interest. The problem is how many students registered to vote; did the students know why they were voting for so and so, what his or her qualifications were, and what that candidate planned to do to improve the student council of Maine West?

Look to see not if the students were running around in strange costumes, singing off key at the top of their voices, but if they were discussing the candidates qualifications and platforms. That is a true test of student interest!

Amen
