| The Maine West Pegasus club will present its second annual horse show, Friday, April 28, at 7:30 p.m. The scene of the show will be the Idle Hour stables at 8600 W. Higgins Road, Park Ridge, with free admission for all. Contests in pair, equitation, game, and costume classes will be awarded with ribbons and trophies. A special exhibition to highlight the evening will be a five gaited horse, a trick horse, and a jumping event. In the teacher's event Miss Corinne Clark, head of the girls' phys. ed. department and former champion, will compete with Mr. Edwin Atkinson, math teacher and present champion. Among other teachers contending for the trophy are Miss Barbara Bovenmyer, girls phys. ed. instructor; Mr. Sidney Drain, business education teacher; and Miss Mae Jean Engen, girls phys. ed. teacher. Also Miss Elizabeth Griffith, English instructor; Mr. R o y Kearns, boys phys. ed. instructor; Mr. Gerald Royer, English instructor; Mr. Robert Schmidt, driver and safety education; Miss Dorothy Solheim, business education; Mr. Vernon Stenoien, science teacher; and Mr. Gene Zuccarini, driver and safety education instructor. Events judges will be Mr. F. Jayne, Mrs. Jeanine Jekel, science teacher and club sponsor, and Mr. Ii. Adcock, instructor. The club hopes everyone will turn out for the horse show. White Collar Girls For future business knowledge, the White Collar Girls club plans a field trip to two big business firms on April 26. |
Their first stop will be the Universal Oil company in Mt. Prospect where they will tour the offices and the research plant. They will then have lunch at the Oasis. Second stop will be A. B. Dick Mimeograph company, located in Niles. Here they will see demonstrations of different types of business machines and will watch employees in action. "These trips are important to future White Collar Girls in helping them get acquainted with the business world," commented Miss Lathrop, business education instructor and sponsor of the club. Aquiana "Rhythm" is the theme for the annual spring water ballet show to be presented by the Aquiana club, May 12-13. The show will include about 12 different acts such as the waltz, cha-cha, tango, hula, square dance, ballet, charleston, Indian dance, minuet, and others all to be performed in the water! Lynn Ruark '61, is the president of the club and Midge Wolfram '61, is the vice-president. Organizing the show are the program chairman, Jane Mountford '62; scenery chairman, Chris Hatfield '62; publicity, Fran Toay '63; and tickets, Faith Olson '61. Miss Mae Engen, physical education teacher and sponsor of the club, said the club's purpose is to increase interest and skill in synchronized swimming as well as practicing water safety. Throughout the year the girls meet one day a week to practice strokes and stunts and also plan club activities. |
