Harriers Dump Kits;
Meet East Leyden
Maine West's track team will try to make it 11 straight wins when they meet East Leyden here at 4 p.m. today. The Warriors go into this meet with an air of confidence after walloping Ev-anston 71-47 last Friday.

Out of the 14 events against the Wildkits the tracksters finished first in 10. Dennis Luzinski started the string of firsts in the high hurdles event with a time of 15.4. Ray Leonardson added 10 points with a first in the 100 yard dash (10.6) and the 220 yd. dash (23.6). The 880 yard run was won by Vic Oakley (2:08). Lee Wolf's first in the 440 yd. run (52.2) earned five points.

With the combined efforts of Ron Albertson, Leonardson, Luzinski, and Chuck Weil the 880 yd. relay was won. Oakley, David Madison, Paul Eisenbacher and Wolf came through in the mile relay for another first.

In the field events, Art Steele captured three firsts - the broad jump (20 feet 11 1/4 inches), the high jump (5 feet 10 inches) and the pole vault (11 feet 6 inches). In the pole vault the Warriors took all three places with Don Nixon and Pedro Martinez finishing second and third respectively.
The varsity thinclads under Coach Ed Smith have a 10-0 record, having downed Austin and Schurz of Chicago, Glenbrook and East Leyden of the Interim league in previous in. door meets.

Sophs Lose

Ken Pinzke's firsts in the 100 yd. dash (11.0) and the 220 yd. run, and Bob Wagner's win in the mile (5:00.6) weren't enough to give the sophomores a victory. Evanston beat them 83-48. They now have a 5-6 record.

Maine's freshman thinclads put the pressure on to beat out Evanston 59 3/4-54 1/4 in the first outdoor meet of the season. Barry Eisfeldt, Volker Engle, Ken Pugh and Bob Bachmura kept a winning pace in the 880 yd. relay (1:44.2). Earl White won the high hurdles event and Dale Luzinski threw the discus 89 feet 10 inches for another first. With last Friday's win the freshmen now have a 1-4 record.

Today the three teams will meet East Leyden here. The meet, originally scheduled for last Tuesday, was postponed until today because of bad weather.
