| by AL 'n Ed THE SECOND ANNUAL WATER BALLET SHOW AT MAINE WEST will be held the second week in May, in the West pool. The show, presented by members of the Aquiana club, is directed by Miss Engen. Tickets for the water show will soon go on sale. Last year's presentation was a huge success, with a large turnout. WITH THE MANNER IN WHICH WEST'S BASEBALL AND TRACK teams are rolling along, it is conceivable to predict that both these spring sports will bring home conference trophies. As of April 19, West's nine had won four, while remaining undefeated, even though none of their victims were from the Interim conference. COUNTING THE WARRIORS TROUNCING OF EVANSTON'S CINDERMEN last Friday, coach Ed Smith's tracksters have amassed a 100 dual and tn-meet slate throughout the indoor and outdoor season. Combined with their perfect dual and tri record of last year (12-0), Maine West's trackmen are unbeaten in 22 consecutive track meets. In fact, they have never been overcome in a track meet since Maine West has fielded a team. |
THIS OUTSTANDING RECORD WILL BE PUT TO ITS SEVEREST TEST May 2 when the Warriors travel to compete with Oak Park and Lyons in what many term as "the toughest meet of the year for all three schools." SCORING FOR SPRING SPORTS GOLF - The final score of a golf meet is determined by adding the scores of the best four totals of the team, together. This gives the official team score, with the lowest point accumulation winning, of course. TENNIS - In a tennis meet, five matches are held to determine the winning school. Three of the matches are singles, that is, one boy from the home school plays one boy from the opposing school. The other two matches are doubles, that is, two boys on each team play against each other. The team winning the majority of the matches (three or more) is declared the winner. As of April 20, Maine West was tied for first place in the Interim League standings. |
