West Brings Five Awards From Exhibit |

| With a lion's share of the Regional Industrial Education exhibit awards, 16 Maine West students came home from Northern university, DeKalb, last week end with ribbons. The craftsman won first place honors in each area of judging in which they entered. Ray Pifke '64, was honored by receiving the sweepstake trophy with the outstanding entry in the show. He is a student in Mr. Roy Hulfachor's general metals class. Ray's wrought iron book case with glass sliding doors, fiber glass back, and colorful and intricate inlaid ceramic tile impressed the judges. Richard Day '61, won a gold medal with his coffee table. Robert Pellikan's woodworking class. Wayne Roberts '61, was a gold medal winner with his receiver and power electronics device. Mr. Peter Titre teaches the electronics class. Dan Conklin '64, got his gold medal for a sample of block printing. He is in Mr. Rolland Wolfe's print shop class. Terry Pestel '62, also in Mr. Hulfachor's class, won a first with his coffee table entry. Terry got first in the Regional and State last year and ended with a third in the National. Besides the firsts, there were four seconds and six thirds. All are eligible to enter the state at Bloomington, Illinois, on May 11, 12, and 13. |
