Slump Causes Golfers Grief

Coach Dave Henry's varsity golf squad has recently fallen into the clutches of a temporary slump. Since the results of the Tuesday, May 2, match, it has become evident that there has been a trend towards defeat by the West golfers. The Maine West duffers suffered setbacks in meets played on May 1 and 2 with Glenbrook and Wheaton.

The May Day engagement was with Spartans, at Mohawk Country Club, a small, nine hole course. Making up the team from Maine West were Steve Farmer '62, Tim Richards '62, Doug Seagren '62, and Dan Wiberg '61. Final score was West, 179; Glenbrook, 169.
The May 2 match, held at Park Ridge Country club, against Wheaton, let Coach Henry's hustlers enjoy a full 18 hole course. Top golfers from West were once again Farmer, Richards, Seagren, and Wiberg. Final score showed West, 352; Wheaton, 336.

The varsity linksmen play their next scheduled match against Mt. Prospect, on Monday, May 8.
