Chuck Weber Receives GM College Grant |
||||||||||
| Chuck Weber '81, has been chosen for the 1960-61 scholarship grant offered by the General Motors corporation. He was chosen on the basis of his scholastic standings in school and by his results on the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Tests. Chuck plans to enter Michigan College of Mining and Technology at Houghton, Michigan, where he will major in electrical engineering. He plans to go for four years. Due to the advanced placement courses that he took in high school, Chuck will enter college as a sophomore. He has also completed his sophomore mathematics courses. |
Chuck was chosen from among students of over fifty leading high schools in the nation. From these fifty schools, the students are given tests by the administrations of the schools. Since this test was given the same day as the NMSQT, Chuck could not take the test. But on the basis of the results of the NMSQT and his grades in school, he was given the grant. He placed as a finalist in the NMSQT. The amount of money given by the grant ranges from $200 to $2000, depending on the amount the student needs. During Chuck's four years at high school, he has received nothing but A's in his subjects. This year he is on the varsity track team and participates in the high jump and the broad jump. |
