Science Students Win Top Awards At Fair

May 11 and 12 was the date of the annual Illinois Junior Academy of Science Exhibition held in Springfield, Illinois. It is commonly called the Illinois State Science fair. Four students from Maine West took part in it. The four from West were Richard Giles, JoAnne Gloeckler, Frank Prochaska, and John Schafer.

For his science project in the field of zoology John Schafer copped an outstanding award, the highest possible in the competition. Also displaying projects in the zoology field were JoAnne Gloeckler and Richard Giles. Rich received a second place and JoAnne a third place. Frank Prochaska received a second place for his project connected with physics.
