Show Band, Vocal Groups Announced |

| Maine West Show band members have been selected after grueling tryouts. The saxophone section is led by Grant Winsauer, '61, alto. Others include Chuck Hawes, '63, tenor; Jim Scott, '61, alto; Howard Wurster, '61, tenor; and Jim Meyer, '61, baritone. The trumpet section includes Jack Williams, '62, lead; Randy Baselt, 61; Connie Straub, '62; and Bruce Schellin, '61. Norm Boyer, '61, and Valorie Olson, '63, make up the horn section. The trombone section consists of Ken Olson, '61, lead; Mark Bade, '63; Sue Anderson, '61; and Tom Kelley, '63. Gerald Stanowicki, '61, is the pianist; Ingrid Gustus '63, on flute; and Charles Ermeling, '61, on bass. As yet the drummers have not been picked. The student director is Jim Meyer and the band is officially conducted by Mr. Jared Spears. |
The Senior A Capella choir, directed by Mr. Wilbur Schafer, is bolstered by returning "lettermen" Dave Hopkins, '61, and Don Plautz, '61, basses; Eddie Bach, '62, and Tom Kuersten, '62, tenors; Nancy Wright, '61, and Melody Pabst, '61, altos; and Sherrie Balma, Mary Lou Cameron, Dianne Disabato, Joanne Gloecker, Kay Lonsby, Barbara Novak, Ruth Sorenson, and Sandy Zick, all from the class of '61, sopranos. Another group under the direction of Mr. Schafer is the Choraliers, which was formed last year. New members in it this year are Sherrie Balma, soprano; Melody Pabst, alto; and Wayne Zabel, bass; all from the class of '61. Returning from last year's group are Mary Lou Cameron, Dianne Disabato, and Kay Lonsby, sopranos; Tanya Hostetler and Ellen Cameron, altos; Andy Adolfson and Tom Kuersten, tenors; and Dave Hopkins and Don Plautz, basses. Already this year, the group has sung at Cumberland Elementary school and at the PTC Open house. They are now preparing music for a combined exhibition with the Show band. |
