| Cross country and track star Frank Schwartz is this week's Warrior of the West. He is a senior. Frank earned his numerals four times while at Maine (East) during his freshman and sophomore years. Each year he got his points in indoor and then outdoor track. Last year as a junior Frank lettered in cross country under coach William Barringer. He also lettered twice during the track seasons under coach John Minerick Although Frank earned his first letter in cross country at Maine (East) before the schools split, he is one of two lettermen that came to Maine West to form the nuclei of the Warrior thinclad team, which is now assured of a .500 or better mark for the season. |
Frank who stands 5 feet, 8 inches, and sports blue eyes with brown hair, has earned his cross country letter again this year at Maine West. Interested in music he plans to attend a music college after graduation, although he is undecided where. Frank is the "wild" drummer for one of Maine West's combos, The Rhythm Kings. The most exciting experience in Frank's sports career was the Oak Park relays in his sophomore year, when he was undefeated in dual meets. Frank said his goal this year is a team goal. "We should take State in indoor track this year!" he exclaimed. When prompted about other sports, Frank mentioned that he also likes to water-ski and is pretty good on the wet board. |
