Floats Parade to Game; Royalty Reigns Tonight |

| "To be or not to be" might be uppermost in the thoughts of the 28 nominees for Maine West's 1960 Homecoming Queen. Among these quizzical girls are Karen Barrett, Holly Barrows, Sharen Blume, Mary Lou Cameron, Jill Dowey, Marleth Ende, Sandra Guido, Sandie Haarvig, Maryann Hemmer. Dottie Hutchison, Judie Jorgensen, Barbara Klekamp, Karen Krull, Anne Kulik, Sue Linneweh, Pam Mack, Lee Magliochetti, Carole Pendergrass, Carol Peterson, Carol Pier, Diana Raphael, Carole Romano, Ginny Stephens, Char Thompson, Jan Triunfol, Lynn Turner, Sandy Zick, and Kathy Franzen. These girls were nominated in homerooms last Friday. Five finalists were selected by voting of the student body in assemblies Wednesday. Tonight at the football game against Wheaton, during the half-time, the newly elected Maine West Homecoming Queen and court for this year will be announced. Andy Adolfson, editor of the Westerner will be the honored escorts of the newly elected royalty. Parade at 4 p.m. Today at 4 p.m. a police escort will guide the Homecoming float parade through Des Plaines. The floats, situated at students' homes in the vicinity of Cumberland Circle, will be pulled to Cornell Avenue where the parade is scheduled to begin and then proceed to Maine East via Northwest highway. The eight floats participating in the parade are those built by Art Club, Boy's club, GAA, and Student Council. Also, freshmen, sophomore, junior, and senior class floats. During the parade, the Varsity cheerleaders and the Pom-pom squad will ride in the cars pulling the floats. Bruce Schellin, chairman of the Organizations committee. commented, "We need the cooperation of everyone to make this parade a success." Bruce, Miss Joyce Buck, Student Council sponsor, and Mr. John J. Clouser, director of student personnel, have done a great deal to plan the parade. |
