Record Sales of 'He(a)rd'
Next Week
Once again, Student Council is sponsoring a memory record for Maine West students. The record, dubbed "Heard in the Halls," will be on sale in homerooms from November 7-11. As in the past, the cost will be $2.
General chairmen for the memory record are Denny Jordan '61 and John White '62. Sales are being handled by Butch Bending '62. Jim Brennan '61 is head of the script committee and Barb Manny '61 is in charge of designing the cover. Char Thompson '61 is chairman of publicity.
"This year the record will be a lot better," remarked Denny. "There will be less music and more candid tapes of happenings around school, such
as antics in the cafeteria during lunch period."
Tryouts for the job of narrator for the record will be held sometime in December.
The idea for the first memory record, "Maine Sounds Off '59", originated at Maine East in the summer of 1958 because many students wished to have a permanent remembrance of their school year, other than a yearbook. The idea caught on so well among the students that last year Maine West sponsored its own record, "Sound Sketch '60". Denny also commented, "There are still a few of last year's records available for $2.50. Anyone wishing to buy one should contact me."
