Poll Indicates Nixon Ahead In Presidential Contest
The piercing looks that the wearers of Kennedy pins and Nixon buttons have been bestowing upon one another have been decorating our halls for quite a while now.

Occasionally two faithful followers of opposing parties lose control and their voices can be heard shrieking the merits of their candidate. The main argument is usually centered around just who is the best candidate, so – in that fine democratic tradition of Maine, Bruce Schellin and Sue Linneweh took at Maine West and Maine East a survey to find out which man has the most followers.
Along with their choice, each student was asked to give a reason for his decision. The word which appeared most often next to Nixon was EXPERIENCE . . '. next to Kennedy, FINE IDEAS AND A CHANGE. Religon was listed so seldom that it can be said that according to the high school students, it is not an issue.

Since the poll was taken in an area that is predominately Republican - it appears that the outcome could easily have been predicted.
