Seniors Praised, Belittled In Letters From Freshmen |
||||||||||
| A Freshman's Opinion of a Senior So go the seniors, so goes the school. I think all freshmen stand in awe when viewing a senior. We dream about what it is going to be like in the future, when we are the leaders of our school. A senior is someone we have great respect for. The seniors here at Maine West are kind, generous, and understanding. Why sometimes they can even act like human beings!!! There must be 'something that makes us freshmen want to look up to them. I think it's because of the air of leadership that surrounds them. Not even once, was I called "freshy" or "frosh" which is most unusual. It took long, hard work for them to get where they are today. I, as a freshman, think great praise should be given to them for the hard work they are doing, and also for helping Maine West to be what it is today. I only hope that my class, the class of '64, and all the other classes graduating from Maine West, can follow in the footsteps of the Senior class, the Class of '61. Sincerely, Sharon McNelley |
What I Think of Seniors I don't especially like seniors because they act too big and they think they can tell all the freshmen, sophomores, and juniors what to do. When I was in eighth grade I liked to act big and boss the seventh and sixth graders around, but we didn't have cars like most of the seniors do I don't think I bossed the younger kids at Algonquin around as the seniors here think they can boss us around. On The Subject of Seniors The subject of seniors is not a cut and dry one. It's a "matter of opinion" type subject. I, personally, have had only passing acquaintances with seniors. The traditional picture of an upper classman is a haughty person very rarely stooping so low as to talk to a freshie. This is only partly true here at Maine. Seniors don't exactly go out of their way to talk to us, and our first impression is that they are very cold. They hardly ever say hello, especially when their boy friends or girl friends are present. Other than this fault, they represent Maine West well enough to be known as Maine West Warriors. So, with a little more sociability directed towards freshmen, they seem to be quite acceptable. |
