West Ties Wheaton |

| West's first homecoming, held two weeks ago at the East stadium, saw the blue-and-gold clad Warriors battle to a 21-all deadlock with Wheaton's Tigers. Maine West ended the season in fourth place in the Interim League football standings, behind Prospect, Proviso West, and East Leyden. The Warriors had an Interim record of two-three-one, and an overall record of four-three-one. Teams below West in Interim standings were Glenbrook, Wheaton, and Willowbrook. West Scorers Warrior halfback Keith Connolly secured fourth place among the Interim League's top scorers. Connolly had 36 points, behind Proviso West's Logan Dugaw and Petrisino and Voight of Prospect. Others on the scoring list included Dave Larson with 12 points, Charlie Badalamenti with eight points, and Dan Humay and Keith Zolla with six points each. |
Homecoming Following a Humay punt midway into the quarter, Tiger halfback Sonny Kee grabbed the ball on the first flip off the mud and went 87-yards behind good blocking for the first touchdown of the game. Grant, the Wheaton quarterback, ran the extra point to give a 7.0 lead to Wheaton. On the Tiger kickoff, Ray Leonardson took the skittering ball and went 68. yards to the 10. .Larson bulled over two plays later, and Badalainenti converted. Grant ran West's kickoff 80 yards for the third TD in a row; a run was good for the extra point. Connolly scored another West TD in the period, and Kee went for another Wheaton score. Wheaton led 14-7 until the fourth quarter, when Maine went 70 yards on the ground. Connolly took the ball over and the conversion tied the game, 21-21. A last- |
