Cornog Picked As West Mascot |
||||||||||
| Everybody has by now noticed the Indian on the 1960 Legend, the new Dial Tone, and the Homecoming button. This is the mythical Warrior. At last a real live Warrior exists and he is Paul Cornog '61. "The Student Council, under the direction of Cookie Levine '61, appointed Paul as Maine West's Warrior recently," revealed Marilyn Manny, Council representative. Paul is a blond-haired, sports car enthusiast who will be seen performing at athletic events beginning January 16 and thereafter. |
The reason for the Warrior is to create spirit and help fill in on routines with the cheerleaders. Chief Illini at the University of Illinois has become a tradition and a coveted position to hold. Paul, as the Maine Warrior, will be outfitted in an Indian costume. For this $25 has been set aside. It is the hope that he will become a symbol of Maine West and be as much a part of the team as the cheerleaders, pom-pom squad, and managers. The Warrior will typify the boys more than the girls, but then the girls are usually represented well by the cheerleaders. |
