Language Clubs Celebrate
Christmas in Many Ways

The spirit of Christmas was spread at the combined language clubs' Christmas party, Wednesday, in the student lounge.

French, German, Latin, Spanish, and Russian clubs each presented a Christmas skit with some characteristic of the country whose language they are learning.

After its skit, the French club sang native Christmas carols. "Peter and the Wolf" was presented by the German club whose members also sang "Tannenbaum." The Spanish club chose as its skit the breaking of the pinata which turned out to be very funny. One of the teachers who was trying to hit the pinata missed and was
instead struck by the pinata. "Saturnalia," a Christmas pageant of long ago, was put on by the Latin club. Along with this was also a reading out of the Latin Bible by Dan Humay followed by the singing of carols. The Russian club sang "Silent Night" in their language and Nina Kamowich '63 provided the recipe for Russian cookies which were really delicious.

The Wassail bowl for refreshments was taken care of by the Latin club. Cookies added to the enjoyment of all who later danced to music played by the Bellnotes.

As Rosemarie Bittel '63 summed it all up, "Boy, oh boy! It was really a great party."
