Gymnasts Lose Two |
||||||||||
| Maine West's strongmen were squeezed out of the victory circle last Friday night, 57-75, as they hosted the Niles gymnastics squad. The gymnasts had previously lost at Evanston, 86-46. Scoring for West against Niles were Janssens and Hattory with a first and fourth on trampoline. On parallel bars Scully took third and DeFalco collected a fifth place, for a total of six Warrior points. In side horse competition, Lunetto and DeFalco scored high, taking second and |
third places, thereby making the score 38-28 in West's favor after completion of the first three events. Still rings and horizontal bar proved to be the weak spots since Maine lost both events by 14-8 scores. Tumbling was the only event West swept from Niles. A first placing by Downing, coupled with third and fifth holdings by Peterson and Schwaber gave West an event win of 13-9. Top scorers for West against Evanston were DeFalco and Downing with 10 points each, Janssens with seven, and Lunetto with five. |
