Tankmen To See Brooks

At the hands of top notch competition, Maine West's tankmen have suffered three defeats in the first weeks of swimming encounters. The mermen take on Glenbrook tonight in West's pool at 7:30 p.m.

Hinsdale, third in the West Suburban conference last season, conquered West's tankmen, 78-8, in the season opener. Maine West failed to score a first or second at Hinsdale.

Back on home water, the Mainites managed several first and a second in spite of finishing on the short end to
Evanston, the State champs, 69-17. Art Behn, Pat Gassner, Bob Olson, and Craig Schuellenberg scored a first in the 200-yard free style relay. Ken Fadden grabbed second in the 100-yard free style event.

Against East Leyden of the Interim League, the tankers managed a close score of East Leyden 51, Maine West 42. Adam Berg won the 200-yard free style, and Bruce Johns took the 100-yard backstroke. The medley relay was won by Art Behn, Ken Fadden, Bruce Johns, and Phil Wankat. Bill Alles also held a first in the 200-yard individual relay.
